There are several controlled lists managed and maintained by via the esd-standards. These standards form the backbone of the esd-toolkit and enable a consistent and standard approach to referencing information about local government and public sector services.  Many of the lists are also cross-referenced (or 'mapped') so that you can, for example, see a service referenced against the relevant navigation term (where the service light best be located in your website).

You have a simple and straight forward way to submit new terms, or changes to terms, for each of the controlled lists using the esd-toolkit List submission functionality.  You can also search and view all existing submissions that have been made,, along with any comments that other users have given by way of feedback.  In this way, you can help ensure that the list remains fit for purpose and reflect any changes in working practices or legislation.  All submissions and comments are considered and reviewed regularly by the Review Panel, which either approves items for inclusion in the next version of the list or rejects them.

Taxonomists along with anyone interested in maintaining accurate public sector lists should regularly review the contents of the List submissions pages. Anyone wishing to contribute further will need to contact your Local esd-toolkit Administrator to assign you permission to submit terms/changes/comments relevant to each individual controlled list.
